Search Engines Begin Crawling/Indexing Adobe Flash Files

July 2, 2008 – 10:49 am
This week Adobe, in conjunction with Google and Yahoo, announced that they have begun work on some changes that will allow the search engines to crawl and index Flash flies, making it much easier to index and rank full flash websites. This will have major implications for the SEO world, because previously the rule of thumb was to minimize the amount of Flash used in a site because of the crawling difficulties. Now, Flash menus, intros, and all sorts of Flash content will make this technology acceptable for SEO purposes.

Managing your Wordpress Blog with your iPhone

June 12, 2008 – 12:09 pm
Are you a die-hard blogger who loves blogging on the go? And, of course, you have an iPhone, right? Well, there are some pretty slick ways to manage your blog on your iPhone beyond the standard iPhone Safari browser admin login. I came across the WPhone plugin over at the Wordpress Plugin Directory, and it seemed to fit the bill of what I was looking for. During a normal iPhone login of your Wordpress blog, this plugin adds the option to "use mobile admin interface" in the form of a check box that you can select. From there, this plugin offers up a super-clean version of the Wordpress Admin interface, with most of the normal functionalities intact. I am assuming that this plugin will work seamlessly with the new iPhone 3G as well as the older version. Over this last week, I have decided that I will be purchasing the new iPhone ...

iPhone Rumors - 3G with GPS: Confirmed!

June 9, 2008 – 11:50 am
Most tech-geeks with their ear to the street know about the new iPhone rumors; it is supposed to run on the 3G network (3 times faster than the current iPhone EDGE network), GPS enabled, and a huge list of other new features. The world is awaiting the announcement today, where Steve Jobs is expected to introduce it during the Apple Worldwide Developer Conference. What Apple has done with the iPhone and marketing buzz is nothing short of amazing. Aside from developing the most stunning cell phone ever, Apple has been successful in building the anticipation on mere rumors and speculations of an improved phone. One of the key reasons why they have been able to innovate and improve faster than most companies is their dedication to prototype testing. "It’s a process where they discover the product through constantly creating new iterations. A lot of companies will do six or seven prototypes of ...

Google making Strides to improve via User Feedback

June 5, 2008 – 4:30 am
I was very pleased to read earlier today about the different ways that Google has been taking user feedback and actually making some positive changes to their products. This is one of the many examples of why Google is far ahead of the pack as far as search companies are concerned; being as big as they are, they are making it easy and transparent for people who wish to voice their concern with things that they don't like. In doing so, they are creating lifetime users. Kudos to Google for this. I have yet to see Yahoo or MSFT implement similar ways for webmasters to interact  with such measurable results. In fact, the Google Webmaster Console team has been busily working on docs to help webmasters better learn ways to work with Google, including their recent post on using Robots correctly. Matt Cutts has even updated us on some SEO best practices ...
