The biggest challenge of SEO and marketing is sometimes just getting motivated. Setting yourself up with a few 10-minute tasks to do every day, though, can create better results on your website.
The benefit of a quick task
Marketing and SEO are full of long lists of easy tasks that must be repeated time and time again to be effective. Individually, these tasks are quick and easy if you keep p with them. This monotony can make it difficult to power through and complete these tasks in one very long push. Breaking up these efforts into quick tasks that you spend 10 minutes a day on, every day, is not only effective but proves consistent, which often gets better results.
What to turn into a quick task
Some things that make great 10 minute tasks include:
- Making guest-post pitches to other blogs
- Creating backup social networking posts
- Adding to a blogging-topic list for future posts
- E-mailing potential business contacts
- Building a list of potential linking opportunities
- Posting quick reviews of websites or locations
- Finding industry leaders in your social networks
Make it a goal
Create an easy-to-reach goal for yourself. For a personal businesses, for example, this could be two e-mails every weekday to potential retailers for a product. If you keep it up, this takes no more than 10 minutes. If you miss a day, send four emails the next day. By making an easy-to-meet goal, you could end up sending at least 10 emails a week and 40 a month. At even just a 10 percent response rate (average is 20 to 40), that is an additional four business contacts.
Routine can spur creativity
SEO and marketing often call for creativity in leaps and bounds. Creativity is a fickle thing, though, and some mornings finding your groove is exceptionally difficult. Having a list of two or three small goals to hit that can be done quickly and easily can help you wake up your creative side. Worst-case scenario, you have been productive for the day and made progress, no matter how tough it is to get your creative side going.
